City Council Retreat

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor William M. Wheaton opened the City Council Retreat at 7:00 p.m.

II.       ROLL CALL

Ron Gant (1), Betty Branche (2), Ken Waito (3), Andy Zblewski (4), Cheryl Krause (5), George Strander (6) and Mayor William M. Wheaton.

Administration:  Mike Herman, City Manager; Kevin Markovich, Director of Public Services; Kerry Helmick, Finance Director/City Clerk/City Treasurer; Eric Miller, Chief of Public Safety;  Barry Hicks, Director of Zoning and Planning; John Tracy, Code Enforcement Officer and Chuck and Mark Robison, City Attorneys.

III.     DISCUSSION

            A.         City Attorney Items

                        City Attorney Chuck Robison gave an overview.

City Attorney Mark Robison gave a brief synopsis of his duties on behalf of the City.         

Additional comments were received from Council Member Gant, Mayor Wheaton, City Manager Herman and City Attorney Chuck Robison.

B.                  Code Enforcement Items

Code Enforcement Officer Tracy gave an overview.

City Manager Herman presented some possible capacity increase options.

C.                  Grant Writing Proposals

City Manager Herman gave an overview.

D.                 Park Facilities – Usage & Rental

Director of Public Services Markovich gave an overview.

Additional comments were received from Council Members Krause, Strander, Waito and Branche; Mayor Wheaton; City Manager Herman; Finance Director Helmick; Chief of Public Safety Miller; Planning Director Hicks and City Attorney Chuck Robison.

E.                  Miscellaneous & Council Items

City Manager Herman gave an overview of the cemetery fee schedule.

City Manager Herman commented on spring clean-up, leachate disposal and  a single refuse hauler.

City Manager Herman updated the Council regarding the water seepage issues in the City Hall basement.

IV.       RECESS

Branche moved, Krause supported, CARRIED, to recess the Council Retreat until Thursday, August 07, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.  (7-0, rcv).

Mayor Wheaton recessed the Council Retreat at 9:50 p.m.
