I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor William M. Wheaton opened the regular session at 7:00 p.m.

Comments were received from Councilmembers Gant, Branche, Zblewski and Mayor Wheaton.

VI. CONSENT CALENDAR
A. Approval of Regular Session Minutes – July 16, 2007
Waito moved, Zblewski supported, CARRIED, to approve the Consent Calendar as presented. (7-0, rcv)
VII. ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL DISCUSSION
A. Discussion of MDEQ 2007 Water System Evaluation Report
City Manager Herman asked Kevin Markovich, Director of Public Services, to give an overview of the MDEQ 2007 Water System Evaluation Report. It was noted that our system was in better shape than it had been given credit for. Discussion will continue at the Council Retreat later this week. No action was required; for informational purposes only.
B. Request for Approval to Retain the Services of Layne Northern to Plug and Abandon Four (4) Brownswood Wells - $18,600
Gant moved, Waito supported, CARRIED, to approve the request to retain the services of Layne Northern to plug and abandon four Brownswood wells at a cost of $18,600. (7-0, rcv)
C. Discussion – 2008 Budget Calendar
City Manager Herman reviewed the Fiscal Year 2008 Budget Calendar, noting it would be another tough budget year for the City.
Kevin Markovich, Director of Public Services, updated Council on the City’s bridge inspections in light of the recent bridge collapse in Minneapolis. Of the city’s eleven bridges, nine are under the city’s realm and two are under MDOT control. He noted that compared to a lot of communities, the City of Albion is in good shape.

D. Motion to Excuse Absent Council Member(s)
No action was needed as all Councilmembers were present.
